BIO:
Force-fed the mayhem of Ranma 1/2 at the age of 10, I was basically
swimming in anime early on in my life. Yet, while I can attest to
watching primarily shounen anime in the few years following Ranma 1/2,
shows like Toriyama's Dragon Ball or Aoyama's Yaiba, I also began to
delve deeper into what the medium could offer when I was introduced to
the fan-favorite movie Ninja Scroll. Needless to say, that movie
changed my perspective on the story-telling and visual properties of
anime and set off a chain-reaction that would lead to my present-day
otaku status. Shirow's Ghost in The Shell and Otomo's Akira were the
next two landmarks in those early days of anime viewing, but it wasn't
until I caught wind of the popularity of period drama/action piece
Rurouni Kenshin that I began to watch anime regularly. Since then, I've
completed scores of series and have been introduced to shows and movies
at the pinnacle of critical success (and otherwise...) with no sign of
ever losing interest in this addictive passion of mine to anything
else. Well, that is, maybe except for manga, but that's a whole other
story...
