Ugh, another Sailor Moon parody. Normally I don't mind parody work too much, but when the parody in question involves women wearing
lingerie and prancing around trying to save the world from an evil villain with the desire to steal all the sexual energy in the world, for
her own purposes. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the uniforms, but I do draw a line when the villain's goal is to rob the world of its
sexual stamina.
To be expected with an anime based solely on ecchi, the plot and characters are poorly developed. The plot, if you can call it
that, just leads to scenes that exist as stress-relievers to those with raging hormones. The characters in this show also exist for no
higher cause than providing sexual content, and one can never feel any connection of any kind for the character. This can partially be
attributed to the length of the anime being only one episode. Had the show reached at least four to five episodes, perhaps we'd have a more
developed plot and more fleshed out characters.
Lingerie Soldier Papillon Rose even does a poor job at making fun of Sailor Moon. Many elements from Sailor Moon are
present in the anime, such as a cat, a man that saves the heroine in timely fashion, and even Sailor Moon's catch phrase "you will be
punished in the name of the moon." However, the first two of these elements have been saturated with elements of crude humor, which were not
funny in the slightest.
Even the art carried high sexual overtones, from the costumes of Regina Apis's minions to the weapons used by Tsubomi-chan. Putting aside
the sexual implications of the anime; the art was colorful and would have been considered at least average. The music was nothing special,
just another random J-pop artist with no particularly superb skills.
If you're in the mood for high school girls clad in lingerie fighting the forces of evil with weapons resembling sex toys, then by all
means carry on. However, if you are not interested in twenty minutes of terrible anime, then I suggest you look elsewhere.
My recommendation: try Tenbatsu Angel Rabbie, it at least has a decent plot within the same running length.
